Edna Haywood Legacy Stories
PROJECT NOTES: This multi-generation custom package included five individual interviews plus a Mini-Documentary. From the Mini-Documentary, stand alone videos of each story were requested. Enjoy rotating through those samples below and learn a bit about Concord’s history.
Scroll down a little more and see how the full length interviews are presented (with chapter markers) for a deeper dive into all the stories captured on interview day. This page serves as an example of how your shareable private family webpage — included with all packages — could be laid out.
On May 21, 2016, I travelled to Napa, California to film and interview a handful of Mrs. Edna Gallagher Haywood Gnotta’s descendants. Nurse Edna, a courageous community-minded woman, was the founder of Concord, California’s first hospital.
The John Muir Health Foundation, who funds John Muir Health’s Concord Campus today, commissioned Tree of Life Legacies to capture the origin story of Concord’s first hospital in 1930 by this spirited 23-year-old nurse.
Down below, you’ll find the uncut, full length interviews, with all the chapter markers listed below each cut. Simply click on the plus sign at left to unveil each “Chapters” list. This offers an easy and convenient way to pick and choose which stories you’d like to watch.

“There was never yet an uninteresting life. Such a thing is an impossibility. Inside of the dullest exterior there is a drama, a comedy, and a tragedy.”
